Diesel is not gas, it is a liquid fuel.
diesel is a liquid fuel obtained originally obtained as a waste product after oil has been refined into petrol
the diesel engine was invented by a guy named diesel and his invention was ignored untill after his death when it was found that it was a good engine and used up the refinery bi-product
and that also is why deisel became named deisel
