Why do we need electric automobiles and how are they good for the earth?

Why do we need electric automobiles and how are they good for the earth?

In short they arent and we dont.

Eco freaks will have you believing they are a good thing but most of our power nowadays doesnt come from nuclear power. Fission power accounts in many countries for less than 20% of power produced. So even if you have an electrical car that didnt use any fuel, coal and oil are still burned off to produce electricity to fuel your car in the first place.

If it became more mainstream even more resources and a bigger drain on the national grid would be needed to support charge points. The easy option of burning fossil fuels would carry on, especially as ignorance surrounding nuclear power halts plans for more as people dont want them in their back yards.

Oil, other minerals and chemicals are still used to produce all the parts needed to manufacture the vehicle.

Hydrogen power is even more laughable as it is consumed by an engine over 4 times as fast per gallon, still has to be transported to filling sites and still needs to be "harvested" from "thin air".

When nuclear fusion becomes a reality and mainstream we will have abundant energy with no harmful waste. However that is decades off.
