Why doesn't the gasoline explode in a car's gas tank when the gas cap is removed?

Why doesn't the gasoline explode in a car's gas tank when the gas cap is removed?
Because it's a liquid.

Because it needs a spark to ignite, which is why in come cases, if you are on a cell phone, or you are smoking, it will cause the entire gas tank/station to explode!

KABOOM! :)
