Self portraits generally show close-ups of the artist. Some famous self portraits are Leonardo da Vinci's and Vincent van Gogh's.
Many of Frida Kahlo's paintings include herself, such as Cafe de los Cachuchas (c. 1932), The Two Fridas (1939), and Self-Portrait with Monkey (1938). The latter two works intensely show her troubled feelings during hard times in her life.
