How do you set ignition timing on 89 iroc?

How do you set ignition timing on 89 iroc?
make sure the number one piston (front driverside) is at top dead center(all the way at the top) then sit ur distributor in and point the rotor at the #1 piston. from there put the wires on the distributor cap starting at where the rotor is and in conterclockwise put them on in this order( 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2). then put the wires on the plug in the right order (driverside plugs starting from the front are 1-3-5-7 passenger side is 2-4-6-8
