You put the car into drive but it wont go?
Could be a number of things . What year and kind of vehicle is it. Might be low on tranny fluid . If its a older vehicle with a carburetor or a throttle body it could be the cable running from the throttle cable down to the trans may be bad. Older vehicles valve body can stick sometimes as well. You can usually just remove the valve body from the trans and clean it and will be fine. Could be a problem with the torque converter clutch. Newer vehicles have shift solenoids that go bad sometimes as well... But cant really answer your question with out more info.
