When someone owns several companies, must all companies provide identical benefits?

Question

When someone owns several companies, must all companies provide identical benefits?

Answer

Based on the simple facts of the question, no, each company is a separate legal entity and may establish its own benefits, rules of employment, and other operating rules so long as such rules are consistent with applicable state, local, and federal laws.

Answer

No.

Answer

As a Franchise Attorney I agree with the other attorney answers. Common ownership of corporations by an individual does not create an obligation to offer identical benefit packages. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
