What are some effective uses for a smartboard in the elementary art classroom?
The little kids love to use them because they think it is so cool to be able to use it. Also to show pictures on the computer and be able to interact with it on the board is very helpful in some cases.
I would like to use the smartboard as more than a projector of images. How do you manipulate images? Does it require additional software?
It depends on what type of smart-board you are using and what manipulations you want to do. Also what kind of computer you have hooked up to the projector. Well one thing is photoshop which can be downloaded and this can do editing a picture as in color, light, and sharpness (plus more). If you just want to write on the picture most smart-boards have some program in which you activate the pen and write normal colors on it. I know Mac computers have a wonderful photoshop program that can change practically anything. Also in the program "paint" (on dell) you can edit pictures as in cropping. Also even try the edit button when you open up a photo (most computers have that) and see what you could do with pictures. This would be on one icon near the picture or in the tabs on the top of the window. Also if there is a computer technician you can ask his advice on which program would work good.
