How does the volt rating affect how the fuse performs and does usi ng a high volt rating on automobile?
If the fuse is designed for a different voltage than the system it is being used in, then the amp rating becomes undefined. There is no simple conversion factor, but you could use a controlled load and an ammeter to check the amperage at which the fuse blows. Another fuse of the same type and manufacturer and ratings will probably blow at the same amperage. A fuse with the same ratings from another manufacturer or construction type may behave differently at the same incorrect voltage. Production run changes could possibly make for two fuses with the same part number or even sold in the same package behaving differently at incorrect voltage.
What all of this means is that you cannot depend on the fuse to provide adequate (or any) circuit protection at the wrong system voltage. The result of this can be damage to the wiring or other components, fire, and in some situations could lead to an explosion.
