I wa served with a warrent for removal from my rental. Can this be dismissed if back rent is paid?

You need to be careful. As legal right under NJ law, no. Paying the rent upto 4:30 PM on the day of court would do it, but you are beyond that point. The LL can waive the eviction, however if you are going to try that, get it in writing.
