an associates degree in the united states is generally a two year degree, followed by a bachelors degree, followed by a masters and then PhD. Requirements for teaching at secondary level are made by the individual states' department of education. I do not know of a state that will take a teacher with less than a BA. Contact your state department of education, your provincial ministry of education or your local educational authority for further information.
