You had just bought a car that same day you got stoped by a cop because your license plate were expired will it show in the DMV that there is a ticket on that car already?
Traffic tickets are attached to the licence of the person who committed the violation not the car. So the answer is yes the dmv will have record of a ticket but it is associated with your licence which in turn will show against the licence plate that was expired.
You are better off when buying a car to run it without plates since the ones you put on are not for that car, most states will issue a temporary movement permit and dealers will issue temporary registrations with sales, I have always driven the car without plates but kept the title with me so that if I was stopped I could show that I had just bought it and was driving it home from making the purchase. Sorry to say but the only legal way is to get a temp permit before moving the vehicle.
If you put expired plates on a car they do not belong to your only solution is to register the vehicle, pay the late charge and fine to the dmv for the expired reg and take it all to the court when you go showing you have remedied the situation, sometimes they will dismiss the ticket but do not count on it.
