can the will of a deceased be made public, say posted on the internet?

Question

can the will of a deceased be made public, say posted on the internet?

Answer

Wills are public records and there's no law preventing republication. However I would also say this may be an incomplete answer, because I'm not sure what your reasons are for posting someone's will on the internet. For example, if you are an author writing a blog about the wills of famous people, or interesting wills, or poorly written wills, then no problem. If however you are posting a will online as a means of harassment or embarassment to other persons, or similar reasons, that raises different issues and concerns then the simple question you asked, and so the answer may be different.
