Do I have to have a lawyer for my ex to sign over his rights to my children?

Question

Do I have to have a lawyer for my ex to sign over his rights to my children?

Answer

There is no such thing as "signing over rights" except as part of an adoption. Parties may, with court approval, be able to modify visitation and custody in some cases. It is virtually impossible to do that correctly and successfully without counsel.
