how do i get a copy of the trust without an attorney??
Answer
Have you asked the trustee, pointing out that under the law any beneficiary is entitled to a copy. If it has been filed with the court go to the main Court Clerk's Department and look it up.
Answer
You are not entitle to a copy of the trust until your rights as a beneficiary are vested. In most cases, this would occur when the trustor passes away. When that happens, and the successor trustee takes over as trustee, Probate code section16061.7 requires that you receive a Notification of Trustee. This notice must advise you are entitled to a copy of the "terms of the trust". You should contact the trustee and ask for your copy of the trust.
