My truck's temeperature gauge and heat stopped working simutaneously What is wrong with it?
Chances are your water level is low.
The temp gauge is usually fed from a sensor near the thermostat - which is usually level with the top of the radiator - if you dont have enough water to reach the sesnsor then the sensor will record low.
The interior heater is driven by a mini radiator in the cab. Again, low water levels will cause the mini rad to be full of still air rather than circulating hot water.Your thermostat could be stuck open, causing the vehicle to run cold, and making it appear that the guage isn't working while making the heater blow cold air. This happened to me with a 1991 Grand Prix.
Solution: Let the engine cool down and then top up the water in the radiator.
